Nikita Kucherov needs only 14 more points to break Steven Stamkos’ regular-season scoring record. His career numbers have already placed him at the center of the debate over the greatest player in Tampa Bay Lightning history.
Kucherov has 1,124 points in 879 games. Stamkos recorded 1,137 points in 1,082 games. Kucherov trails him by only 13 points despite playing 203 fewer games.
Kucherov already ranks:
- First in assists: 723
- Second in points: 1,124
- Second in goals: 401
He has also won two Stanley Cups, two Hart Trophies, two Ted Lindsay Awards, and three Art Ross Trophies.
The Russian winger recorded 104 points over a 50-game stretch in 2025–26. No NHL player had reached that total over 50 games since Mario Lemieux in 1995–96.
Kucherov needs 13 points to tie Stamkos and 14 to pass him. The only mystery is how many matchups it will take him to complete the mission.
The record still belongs to Stamkos. But Kucherov may already have the strongest case as the greatest player in Lightning history.
